General Terms of Trading – Drain and Tank Solutions
Last updated: [Insert Date]
Welcome to the sensible (but still human) part of our paperwork. These are the terms under which Drain and Tank Solutions ("we", "us", "our") provide drainage and tank-related services to both our domestic legends and commercial champions ("you").
We aim to be as clear as a freshly jetted drain. And while there's a splash of cheek, everything below still holds legal weight — so please give it a skim before we turn up with our tools.
1. Services We Offer
We provide drainage and tank services, surveys, compliance inspections, repairs, installations, emergency callouts, and general wizardry in wastewater. The specifics of what we’ll do for you will be agreed in writing (email counts!) before any work starts.
2. Booking & Scheduling
We’ll agree a date and time with you and do our best to stick to it. Sometimes delays happen (traffic, unexpected fatbergs, acts of nature), but we’ll always communicate like grown-ups.
If you need to reschedule, please give us 24 hours’ notice. If you ghost us completely, we may charge a callout fee — because our vans don’t run on dreams.
3. Estimates & Pricing
We’ll provide a written estimate before any work starts. If something unforeseen crops up (like discovering your pipe system was designed by a lunatic), we’ll stop and discuss revised costs before proceeding.
Prices are valid for 30 days from the estimate date unless otherwise stated.
All quotes exclude VAT unless clearly stated otherwise. (We know, we hate it too.)
4. Payment Terms
Unless agreed otherwise in writing:
Domestic clients: Payment is due upon completion of works.
Commercial clients: Payment is due within 14 days of invoice.
We accept bank transfer, card, or good old-fashioned cash (but no buttons, IOUs, or Monopoly money please).
Overdue payments may be subject to a 5% monthly interest charge and a strongly worded reminder letter — possibly delivered with passive-aggressive politeness.
5. Warranty & Workmanship
We guarantee our work for 12 months, unless otherwise specified. If something goes wrong because of us, we’ll fix it. If it goes wrong because of, say, tree roots or someone flushing a bike tyre down the loo, we’ll still help — but we’ll have to charge for it.
We don’t cover problems caused by third parties, unrelated faults, fair wear and tear, or the inevitable return of bad decisions past.
6. Access & Preparation
Please ensure we have clear access to the area we’re working on. If we arrive and can’t start because there’s a trampoline blocking the manhole, a shed built over the tank, or 12 angry geese guarding the driveway, we may charge for the wasted visit.
7. Liability (AKA: The Fine Print)
We’re insured (don’t worry), and we’re careful. But we won’t be liable for:
Pre-existing damage
Consequential losses (e.g. missed Zoom calls because your garden’s dug up)
Damage caused by improper previous works
We also won’t be liable for delays outside our control — like floods, snow, or unexpected alien invasions.
8. Cancellation Policy
Changed your mind? That’s okay:
Domestic clients: You can cancel without charge up to 24 hours before the appointment.
Commercial clients: 48 hours' notice is preferred.
Late cancellations or no-shows may result in a fee to cover our time, diesel, and mild disappointment.
9. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will be handled by the courts of that jurisdiction — ideally without drama.
